Most people are familiar with the fact that cold water will not remove oil from the skin, but hot water will. This is because the water temperature is at a point where it is boiling. The oil in the water will then be in contact with the skin, where it will begin to break down the skin.
This is a classic example of why it’s such a good idea to use a shower after washing your face. The hot water allows you to have the skin more of an opportunity to get rid of the oil before it starts to break down.
The idea that hot water can help to remove acne is not new, it actually dates back to ancient Greece. In fact, the ancient Greeks believed that it was their gods’ job to remove pimples. The Greek god Zeus was a very hot guy, so perhaps the gods decided that the hottest water would be the best one to remove the oil from the skin.
This “therapeutic” use of water was not new either, as ancient Roman writer and philosopher Plutarch wrote about the same philosophy in his book Against Nature. Plutarch said that a hot bath to remove the oil from the skin was “the best bath for the skin,” which makes sense.
However, it really doesn’t matter what we think we know about the ancient Greek and Roman gods. We can use one set of arbitrary rules to make all sorts of decisions. But it does matter what we believe we know. It doesn’t matter what we really think happens in the world. If we are not careful, we can be making decisions that will lead us to ruin.
It’s a common belief in the West that hot water was invented by the Ancient Greeks to treat acne. In fact, Plutarch clearly states that the Roman bath water was hot and not cold. Also, the Roman baths were not meant to treat the skin, so if you have a lot of pimples and can’t wash your face, hot water wont help. The same is true for cold water. However, cold water is certainly better for the skin.
The reason we have these memes is so that we remember our past and remember the future. So, we will never be the same again.
The cold water myth is so ingrained in our culture that it almost seems like it’s a given that skin is better off with cold water. We have to remember that our ancestors drank hot water in the hot springs and that was the only way to get a good tan. We are the descendants of those who lived in the warm and happy time of ancient Rome and the Roman Empire. We have to remember our past and forget our future.
We also have to remember we are human beings and that we are all in the same boat. Cold water helps break down our oil, bacteria, and other nasty stuff. It’s just a fact, I’m not making it up.
We should all remember that we can have a cold shower, but we shouldn’t all be spending our time in the hot tub. If you’re going to be in the hot tub, you should be spending your time in the hot tub. Our ancestors were probably more interested in hanging out and eating than sweating. We can all learn from that.
